The Philadelphia Eagles are traveling to the Houston Texans tonight in this week's Thursday Night Game. These two cities not only will be playing this week in the NFL, but also in the world series. The Houston Astros are traveling to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies in game five of the world series. However, since my MLB record is abysmal, I will be staying away from that game and will be rooting for the Phillies with no money on the line. I will be placing money on the NFL game, because that is my bread and butter (shoutout my brother-in-law).
Game Preview:
The Eagles have the best record in the NFL standing alone and undefeated at 7-0. Houston is the complete opposite and have the second worst record in the league at 1-5-1 (0.5 games ahead of my Detroit Lions). According to DraftKings, the Eagles are a -13.5-point favorite on the road, and the over/under is set at 45.5.
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have been firing on all cylinders. Offensively, with the addition of AJ Brown, the Eagles look unstoppable. Their Defense has also been full of surprises and is ranked second in the league behind the Cowboys. Philly is a complete team and has a very realistic chance of winning the NFC.
The Texans on the other hand have not figured it out since the departure of Deshaun Watson. Offensively they are not great but have had some shining moments from unexpected players. Rookie Dameon Pierce has surpassed all expectations and has allowed the Texans to not be completely horrible. But besides their run game, the offense is almost nonexistent.
System Play:
Per request from Prince, I will be adding some system plays into our betting content, and tonight we have a juicy one. Here is the system: When the spread is 9.5 points or greater, take the game under. So far this season, this system has hit in 9 of 11 games, and in the past 10 seasons, it has hit at a 59% rate, which is actually a really good percentage with a sample size that large.
So tonight, we will be taking the system play and the under of 45.5.
More Bets:
I have a couple more bets tonight since I am never complacent with just one open bet (one could say that is my one flaw preventing perfection).
Two anytime touchdown props I really like are Jalen Hurts (-120) and Dameon Pierce (+125). It is primetime for Jalen Hurts where he shines the most, and the game is in Houston which is his hometown. It just seems that those two factors put together have the makings of this bet hitting! The Dameon Pierce is simply impulse and is somewhat of a hedge for the under bet. I don't expect the Texans to score much, but if they do, I believe Pierce will be the guy.
I have one same game parlay, and one PrizePicks entry. The same game parlay is simple, sweet, and to the point. It goes as follows: Eagles ML, u45.5, and Hurts u274.5 passing yards (+165). If Eagles lose tonight, my mind will be completely blown. The under as said earlier is a system play, and Hurts' passing line is set at 232, so I hedged that expecting an early blowout. Easy money.
The PrizePicks entry is a small one, but I like it. Its only two legs and is +200 odds. Here you go:
Fairbairn should be able to get two field goals easy. Think the Texans can at least get into field goal range twice this game, and I'm just betting that Fairbairn knocks them down. Along similar reasonings as the under and a blowout, I don't see Goedert getting that many fantasy points. If he scores a TD, the bet it dead, but I highly doubt that happens.
That is all I got. Good luck, good scores, and Godspeed!
