Analysis: Kent State is a mess this season. They’re winless and rank among the worst programs in the FBS. Miami Ohio, on the other hand, is at the top of the MAC standings with a 4-1 conference record and a 30.5-point favorite in this game. Normally, the high spread and low total (47.5) would have me leaning toward the underdog to cover, but Kent State’s struggles make that risky.
1st Quarter Bet Rationale: Miami Ohio has the firepower to put up points quickly, especially against a Kent State defense that has been allowing big plays. All we need is 10 points in the first quarter, which Miami should be able to handle alone. If Kent can manage even a field goal, we’ll be set. This is a play that avoids relying on Kent’s full-game performance, which has been nothing short of disappointing.

However, rather than betting on the spread, I’m opting for a player prop: Ohio QB Parker Navarro’s rushing yards.
Player Prop Rationale: Navarro’s rushing line at 30.5 yards is a solid option, even at -278, which reflects just how reliable he’s been. He’s hit this line consistently in every game he’s fully played, and given Eastern Michigan’s vulnerability to quarterback runs, this should be another one for the win column. While the odds are steep, sometimes you take a small payout for a high-confidence play.
